EV Cache- Restoring Email

It is my understanding that Cache which is the Vault-User Name directory is a window into Archive Explorer. This being the case, if I see email in the Cache, shouldn't I be able to restore it since it MUST be archived? However, when tyring to restore it says the item is not archived,

Correct, the Restore button only works on shortcuts in the mailbox.

Just think of Virtual Vault as a visual representation of the Vault Cache.

Do mean Archive Explorer or Virtual Vault?  Virtual Vault is what appears in Outlook in the left pane, Archive Explorer requires you to click a button on the toolbar or go to a web page.

The item in Virtual Vault is not a shortcut but the actual archived item, you can work with it as you would an unarchived message.  If you really want to restore it you can drag back to your mailbox.

So I am guessing the EV button only work on shortcuts.

I always get confused between Virtual Vault and Cache.

Virtual Vault is the left hand pane in outlook, and Cache are the files downloaded like an OST. Correct?

IMHO it would be good to lodge in the IDEAS section of the forum ... the ability to restore an item from Virtual Vault.
