I am trying to work which approach is better for EV Collections
- define all partions collections to run say 18:00 til 21:00
or
define a specific time for partition 1, say 18:00 til 18:05
and
for partition 2, say 18:06 til 18:15
etc
as we now have over 20 partitions - from an Administration perspective it seems easier to set all partition to Collect say, 18:00 til 21:00
rather than make 20 individual time periods ?
Any advice which way would be "better" ?
thank you

Agree with Tony as it's only 2 open not 20 :)

From an admin perspective it would make sense to run all at the same time but I would stagger them over different times as this will assist you in locating troublesome partitions should any errors occur in the future. It will also help performance wise as it will balance the load.

You don't 20 open partitions do you? How many open partitions do you have?

no - we don't have 20 open partitions - just two ( legacy from a migrated two server set up to a one server set up)

Didn't think so but had to ask!
So the closed partitions should have prettly low overhead on the collection process as it will just look for archdvs files to clean up and also take care of expiry if that is enabled.
I would monitor it and check the load on the server during that time and make changes if necessary, but personally I think you are fine with one schedule.
