Enteprise Vault 12.2 is unable to connect to exchange using RPC/HTTP and MAPI/HTTP

Hi,

We are not finding suitable solution to synchronize EV archives with Mailboxes on exchange 2016 server. We tried to install outlook 2016, since the Article with note highlighting Mapi/Http on Exchange 2016 is supported only with outlook 2016  https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100040583which was not successful because the Outlook 2016 seems to be incompatible.

We tried with RPC/HTTP and forcing to disable MAPI/HTTP on the server and connections are not getting through.

Please suggest the protocol to be used along with the correct version of outlook that will be compatible with Exchange 2016 + Enterprise vault 12.2

Additionally Please help with details of steps to be followed to set this up with Load balacer servicing connections to Exchange.

Cheers!

Priya

Hi,

which issue are you facing exactly? The tasks are not able to start resulting in different error event ids?

Which Exchange CU are you using?

Outlook 2013 only supports RPC/HTTP which should be achieved by creating the MapiHttpDisabled registry value.

Outlook 2016 on the other hand only supports MAPI/HTTP and the value mentioned above must not be in place.

If EV is able to create profiles - can you try to open one of these automatically created profiles to see which protocol is used?

In regards to the loadbalancer I am not completely sure what you are looking for. Guidance on setting up a loadbalancer or how to achieve that EV works with a loadbalancer?

Regards

Marc

Hi,

You may want to look at the following articles if experiencing these errors.

https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/article.100011479.html

https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/article.100034045

The second one refers to hosts file settings that can be used to bypass a load balancer to determine if that is causing issues.

Patrick
