Enterprise Vault - FSA - Service Account Permissions

Good Evening All,

I have an important query in relation to File Server Archiving EV Service Account.

Besides being a local admin on the Target File Server, what all rights/permissions are required as a MANDATE to archive files. (EV 8.0 specifically)

The reason for this question is, in Financial Institutions, permissions are given as per the department. e.g. there is a Drive (E:) on the File server holding HR documents. E: has explicit rights for HR department only and EV Service account gets an Access Denied on the Drive. Will the archive still happen on the drive?

If NO, please provide EXPLICIT RIGHTS AND PERMISSIONS required by the EV Service Account on the File server to archive in such bounded conditions for the following: -
1. Server Level;
2. Share Level; and
3. NTFS Level

Please provide a detailed answer. If possible, please provide the supporting document.

Regards,

GauravAditya

These instructions are copied directly from the Installing and Configuring Enteprise Vault  FSA (Page79)

Preparing file servers

For placeholder shortcut creation on a Windows platform, the Vault Service
account must have the following access rights:

■ Local administrator rights on the file server
■ Full control on the share that is configured as the target volume

Optionally the Vault Service account also requires browse permissions on the
target folders, and on any folders in the paths to the target folders. If these optional
permissions are not set, the administrator is unable to browse in the Administrator
Console for the target folder, and so must specify the path by typing it in.
