Exchange 2007 SP2 Move Mailbox

Harisha
Not applicable

We are in the process of consolidating the users across the globe to one site.

Environment:

Site A:

We have 2 Node SCC cluster and 2 HUB+ CAS servers. All are Exchange 2007 SP2. (We have not applied any RU after SP2 as there is limitation on Enterprise Vault)

1000 Users

Also all the users in this site are registered for Archival using Enterprise vault.

Average mailbox size is from 5-9 GBs and it may grow more once we Import the data from E-Vault to Exchange mailbox.

Site B.

Installed New 2 Node SCC cluster.

In this site we have 2 HUB and 2 CAS. All are Exchange 2007 SP2.

Need to Achieve:

Move all the mailboxes from Site A to Site B and decommission all the servers in Site B.

Till Now:

1. Moved Pilot users from Site A to B and incredibly it took 5 hrs to move 1 GB mailbox.

So the new server is not added to any of the E-Vault Servers. Can I add the Site B Exchange server to Site A e-Vault server?
Is is spported?

If I move the mailboxes between these servers, with they be able to access the archived data?

Any other idea or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Harisha N

Yes you can archive an Exchange servers from another site, but all depends on bandwith.

How fast is the bandwith between the two sites and where are your users located ?

If the users try to open archived items, the bandwith on site B must be fast enough to support this, otherwise your users will complain about performance.

At the end of your transition, where will the EV server(s) be located ?
