Fast Archiving Enabled and Status remains "Build Pending"

Hi,

After my EV11.0.1 upgrade I have enabled a single test mailbox for Fast Browsing (Check the box on the Advanced tab of the user properties) but 48 hours laster the status remains Build Pending. I have re-provisioned, re-synchronised and archived some content and the status hasn't changed from Build Pending.

It's not a particularly large archive, is there anything I can do force/hurry the process? Is it waiting for something else to happen before it completes?

Thanks

Has a search been carried out on that Archive since you enabled it?

Have a read here:-

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO109423

Specifically:-

When you enable users for Enterprise Vault Search, Enterprise Vault does not create the metadata store for a user immediately. Enterprise Vault creates the metadata store after that user has used Search.

Or you can force it yourself as an Admin using Powershell:-

If you want to create the metadata stores for some users before they use Enterprise Vault search you can use New-EVMDSBuildTask PowerShell cmdlet

What are the settings for your Index Admin task?  Make sure it's running and with sufficient window time to process.

Excellent, many thanks Ben.

Makes sense, prioritise and stagger the builds rather than trying to update them all at once.

Thanks for the response WiTSend, I have separate Storage and Index servers and your response prompted me to correct an unrelated issue.

Happy to help, its one of those things that has caught out many an admin, even those in EV Support previously...
