How to configure Exchange 2013 servers for archiving in current EV 10 environment.

Hello Everyone,

This is must be very easy for most of you, but am stuck hence am here :)

Environment:

We have;

43 EV 11.0.5 servers, Archiving 43 Exchange 2010 mailbox servers.

Few mailboxes from Exch 2010 are moved to Exchange 2013 however Exchange 2013 is not targeted for archiving.

We now need to enable archiving only for leavers mailboxes on Exchange 2013 servers:

We will soon be introducing only 2 Exchange 2013 servers and need to know the prerequisites & implementation strategies for EV and Exchange 2013 please.

Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 are in the same domain.

Please help!!!

I'm going to assume that by "EV 11.0.5" you mean "EV 11.0.1 CHF5"—if that assumption is not correct, then the below may not adhere.

EV 11.0.1 CHF5 supports archiving from Exchange 2013 servers. Because of the changes to the connection protocols (EV connects to Exchange 2010 via old-school MAPI, while it connects to Exchange 2013 via RPC/HTTP), you may need to take particular note of the proxy server and certificate settings for the RPC/HTTP connection point in Exchange. Other than that, there's not much to distinguish the two when targeting them for archiving.

To segregate the leavers from the rest of the users, you should use a separate provisioning group. Make sure it's the highest priority provisioning group in the list. We have some best practices regarding leavers in this article.

Hope that helps.

EV comes with a script called  SetEVExchangePermissions.ps1 that sets all relevant permissions - see http://www.veritas.com/docs/100018180

Also you can run the Deployment Scanner and add new Exchange servers to the list to it will check if anything else need to be configured

Thank you Chris for your reply. It's EV 11.0 CH5
Do I need to play with any special permissions on my EV Service account? or will it just help in giving full permission on Exchange 2013 MBX Servers?
