Index and archive storage question

I'm new to EV and have been assigned the task of figuring out how to better configure our indexes and archive storage. We are running EV 6 SP6 and will be moving to 2007 somewhat soon. The problem we have is that since we deployed EV, which has been years (we just recently upgraded from EV 5.0), we have had 2 indexes and one storage archive. The indexes are 45 and 43 GB in size and we are nearly out of storage space (8GB free of 1.5TB). I read through the "best practices" document, but I'm not sure which changes to implement (AVSMaxLoc, close existing  and create 8 new indexes, etc.). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi there

Creating multiple index locations is mainly for management purposes, that you can move an indexlocation to another drive/storage if necessary.

Your environment seems to be quite large.

I'd highly suggest that you get professional services to have a look at it.

EV is not that easy of a task to design ;)
