Journal task running but archiving is not working

EV 8.0 SP4 ( Journalling Archiving )

Exchange 2000 SP3 x 2 ( 1 x working and 1 not working)

Exchange 2007 SP2 x 1 ( working )

i got 3 x Journal task running but 2 are working and one is not working after a powershell script hanged during the post stage .

The journal mails on the journal task keep having mails struck after a while ( 10 mins) on the MSMQ queue and archiving stopped ever a force restart of EV admin service or reboot the entire EV server .

Anyone can advise.

Struck pending journal mails in journal mailbox and MSMQ J2 and J3.

I keep having stuck messages in my MSMQ J2 and J3 after then the journal task will not archiving any mail in the jorunal mailbox.

Please advise.

Hi,

Please check if your EV server is not still in readonly mode. The hanged script might have been trying to take it out of backup mode but never succeeded.

Check the Backup Mode Setting for your indexes and vault stores.

basically they have look into the dtrace on the journal task but still cant find any root cause.

We have created a new mailbox for the journal and system mailbox.

delete all journal mailboxes on the journal and journal tasks.

Delete all MSMQ on the affected journal tasks.

Problem still exist . currently we are using evservice command to restart jorunal task every 15 mins to keep the journal mails low.

do you have a size limit on the emails at all? EV has issues to say the least with large emails in the journal mailboxes Also have a look at the MSMQ and make sure its not breaching the 1GB quota that is set by default (could be because of an outgoing queue unchecked, someone left on journaling for a queue, a ton of NACK's being sent to the dead letter queue)

We still troubleshooting of this problem .

MSMQ was found open in the journaltask dtrace log. But there isnt any antivirus installed on the EV server.

So support suggested to uninstal and install of the MSMQ.

I have reinstall the MSMQ and seem to be working for past 3 days.

Still monitoring .
