Journaling

Hi,

We are about to add an exchange server 2003 server in our Australian office, we don't plan to add another Vault server other than the one we currently have in our London office. For standard mailbox vaulting we can add a new Mailbox archiving task that runs during their night so mail isn't vaulted across the WAN during their working hours. However we also use journalling. We need to find a way of limiting when the journal task runs it's collection; the default is every minute from the journal mailboxes, however we'd like to either schedule this to avoid their working hours or reduce the frequency of collections to once ever 12 hours.
Is this possible? We use EV 7.0 sp3

Another way to tackle this issue is to forward your journaled mail in your Australian office to the current Exchange server (and journal mailbox) that is local to your EV server(s). That way, archiving will be kept local and SMTP that forwards journaling is not as bandwidth sensitive as MAPI.

Hi,

another way could be using evservices.exe and the Windows Task Scheduler to start the Journal Task at a specific time and to stop it again before normal working hours.

But be aware the Journal Mailbox will grow during the day so it is important to ensure that all mails placed in the Journal Archive can certainly be archived using this way.

Just a further option...

Greets,
