Using the following in EVPM, I know that one can force a retention category for a folder:
[Folder]
Name = Tasks
Retentioncategory = Business
OverrideArchiveLocks = True
Unfortunately, that locks all of the other settings on that Enterprise Vault tab in Outlook such as the setting for how long items are kept on the Exchange server before being moved to the vault. Is there anyway to lock the retention category, but still have the user able to use the other options on that page?
Basically, we wanted to restrict new employees from picking a category in the event that they mis-categorize something. After a few months, they would then get the ability to select categories.
Best that we have been able to come up with so far is to make a group in AD which contains new employees, and run EVPM against that group every night before scheduled archiving begins to set all of their folders to "Business".
