Mailbox not archiving

We're having an issue with messages in one particular mailbox not archiving. We've had a case open for two weeks now and have tried everything. At this point, support wants us to delete the user's exchange mailbox. This is something we really want to avoid and would rather resolve the issue from EV so I thought I'd give the forums a shot.

The following two events appear when the archiving task runs (the names have been changed to protect the innocent):

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Enterprise Vault
Event Category: Archive Task
Event ID: 2270
Date:  10/7/2008
Time:  2:30:11 PM
User:  N/A
Computer: NTM025
Description:
A queued operation exceeded the retry count and has been discarded

m_pIBackgroundArchivingAgent->ProcessUserEx(Priority = "true",
  ReportingMode = "false",
  ContinuousMode = "true",
  RollOverLogFile = "true",
  NumMsgsToArchivePerPass = "200",
  legacyMessageStoreDn = "",
  legacyMailboxDn = "/o=x/ou=x/cn=x/cn=x",
  adMessageStoreDn = "",
  adMailboxDn = ""
, NULL);

HRESULT: 0x80004005

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Enterprise Vault
Event Category: Archive Task
Event ID: 2243
Date:  10/6/2008
Time:  5:43:23 PM
User:  N/A
Computer: NTM025
Description:
Could not scan user mailbox /o=x/ou=x/cn=x/cn=x, cannot list messages

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that we're using EV 2007. We ran dtraces with support (I can provide the case number if someone needs it). The article says it applies to versions up to 7.0 and also references hexcode: 0x800B0001  whereas our error event shows HRESULT: 0x80004005.

To the first reply, we followed the article while troubleshooting with Symantec support. No cigar.

This is usually access denied.

Could you verify that the EV Service account has got permission to access the user's mailbox?

(Try logging in to the EV Server with VSA, and attach the user's mailbox to outlook)

Additionally, have you tried "zapping" the user's mailbox?

Cheers

Michel
