Moving SQL from 2000 to 2005

I have found instructions on moving from one SQL server to another, but I was wondering if there were any extra steps to move from 2000 to 2005. If anyone has made this move please let me know the results you had.

Thanks,

Kirk

Hi Kirk

To be honest with you ive done this move 3 times before and all that was really required was to detach the database and add it to the SQL database and change the SQL server name in the directory SQL server to point to the new SQL server

Well that is good to hear. I didn't want to start moving it and find out there were problems moving from 2000 to 2005.

yeah,
the only issues you'll have is if you're changing auth modes, or if you've got a 2005 cluster that need dependant resources.

Hi Kirk,

I also have moved from SQL 2000 to 2005 without any kind of problems.
I think that one of the solutions, and easy one, it's to dettach and attach the databases and change in VAC the pointers to the SQL Server. I also installed the SQL 2005 SP1 and it is working without any kind of problems.
