New Install - Can not add Exchange Server

I have installed a new EV site/server.

I am trying to add an exchnage 2003 server.

When I browse to select a system mailbox 'working' is displayed I have left it for 10minutes plus the list of mailboxes is not returned.

The Deployment Scanner is OK regarding exchange permissions.

Any ideas?

Regards

Mark

Daft question... have you configured an outlook profile on the new EV server?

Can you open the system mailbox via Outlook on the EV server OK logged in as the Vault Service Account?

Just to clarify - I can not see any mailboxes listed in the 'select mailbox' window. I just see -

working...

A little more information

I created the server in EV without creating any archiving tasks.

Server created OK

I created a provisioning group and ran the provisioning taks OK.

Tried to create a mailbox archiving task, same issue not able to display list of mailboxes to select a system mailbox

Hi Mark,

Is there perhaps a firewall running?

Any events on the Exchange server (or the vault server) especially application/security log?

While opening the system-mailbox on that exchange server, when you try to sent an email to a mailbox located on that exchangeserver, can you find it in the addressbook? Can you sent the mail? Can you (as temporary measure) make the Vault Service Account local administrator on the exchange server and try again?

Can you (from the vaultserver) ping the exchange server, can you open an (admin) share on that server?

Are all exchangeservices running? Can you reverify the permissions of the VSA (follow page 61 and further in Installing and Configuring guide) (assuming you are on EV8)

let us know....

Hi

Windows Firewall is Disables (the service is set to disabled)

I can ping the exchange server OK

Running EV9

I can access the c$ share on the Exchange server

I have (for testing only) made the vsa account a member of domain admins.

I have sent a mail for the VSA to the system mailbox and back again

Mark

I have been running a dtrace and seeing that it is reading through all the user mailboxes very slowly anout 1 mailbox eveny 20 seconds.

I think it is now time to raise a case with support.

Thanks

i noticed Binding to: GC://print1.xxxxxx.ie

is that a domain controller + global catalog + print server + other goodies? maybe it's too busy to respond in a timely manor.

Looks likely to have be caused by an VMWare Networking Issue.

Some changes where made to the networking.

Enterprise Vault now seems to be running more smoothly

Hello Mark,

As more people use VM-Ware to run EV, can you let us know what has been changed? This might help others in fixing issues, or allow a 'heads-up' when going to vm-ware.

Thanks, good to know you got it fixed.

Regards. Gertjan
