No EV Icons or Buttons on default profile Outlook2007

Greenroomboy

Hi All,

We are using EV2007 SP4 with Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007.

We have been testing EV as we are in the process of migrating from Domino to Exchange, I have enabled a test user in EV and when i open the test profile on my machine i can see all the icons and buttons for EV.

I could also see the icons for my own account that had a test mailbox enabled in Exchange, we have now disabled that test mailbox and migrated my Domino account to exchange and re-attached this to my existing AD account. We have enabled the new account in EV.  We have run the EVDominoMigration and all the EV shortcuts are now pointing to the correct archived mail in Exchange, the problem is i am unable to get the icons or buttons to show in my default profile but if i open the test account i can see them so i'm pretty sure it's not an EV client issue.

has anyone got any pointers to get the shortcut icons and EV buttons to display in my real profile?

Thanks

Steve

Just to explain a bit better!

We had EV for Domino setup and working fine, we have now configured the existing domino EV boxes to use MS Exchange.

In Exchange we created 4 test accounts

Quest1, Quest2, Quest3, Quest4  All these accounts were migrated to Exchange using Quest migrator, once they were migrated we enabled them for Exchange archiving and all was ok.

I decided to create myself a mailbox in Exchange2007 and enabled this for EV all ok.

Last night we were confident that Exchange and Ev is all ok so lets migrate my real domino account with all my mail over to exchange but before we did this we disabled the test mailbox we had originally attached to my AD account. and disabled this account in EV also.

Migration completed, EVDominoMigration completed. new account enabled and provisioned in EV

Opened my mailbox in Outlook2007 and no EV icons or buttons in the toolbar

Opened the Quest 1 to 4 accounts on the same machine and all the icons and buttons are visable in the toolbar.

I presume it's the fact that i disabled a mailbox in Exchange on my AD account and re-attached a new one that has caused the problem.

Any help mucho appreciated

Try enable logging and see what the logfile says.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\SOFTWARE
\KVS
\Enterprise Vault
\Client

Three levels of information can be logged:
■ 0. Errors (default).
■ 1. Information.
■ 2. Tracing.
■ 3. Tracing, with function calls.

DWORD

Specifies the required level of logging from the Desktop environment
to a log file.
The log file is created in the user's temp directory, with a filename of
ev_client_log_timestamp.txt. A maximum of 20 log files is
available (the oldest is automatically deleted).

Hi Michel.

Looking at that reg key i currently have 2 entries.

Default-----------------------REG_SZ------------------ Vaulue not set

OLBarState-------------------REG_DWORD---------------0

Do i need to add another entry and set the Dword value to 3? if so what entry do i create?

Thanks

Sorry, totally missed to tell the Name of the new entry! Stupid me!! Smiley Mad

It's  "LoggingLevel", which you would probably set to DWORD 2 or 3.

The line in bold above is what jumped out at me so i disabled the Outlook anywhere and the icons are now viewable so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Now for my next question.

we could really do with EV working when clients are enabled for Outlook Anyhwere, is this possible or is there a reason EV disables the client when it notices that this is configured?

Thanks again for all your help Michel

In the mailbox archiving policy under Advanced-> Outlook, there is a setting called 'RPC over HTTP restrictions' which by default is set to disable the user extensions.  You can change this setting if you want the client functions available with Outlook Anywhere.

C.R. O'Brien is correct.

By default RPC over HTTP Client is disabled.
