in the ( setting exchange server archive PDF) they wrote:
If clients connect to the Exchange 2007 CAS server using Microsoft ISA Server,
then the Enterprise Vault Web Access application must be published by the ISA
Server in addition to the Exchange 2007 CAS server.
what did the published means and how to do so.

In OWA 2003 you had the following that was external
http://webmail.yourcompany.com/
You would also have another directory called /EnterpriseVaultProxy/
So when you open up Archive Explorer or Search it would open
http://webmail.yourcompany.com/EnterpriseVaultProxy/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp
this would then pass the request from the OWA 2003 Front End Server back to the EV server and request the Archive Explorer Page and pass it back.
However in OWA 2007 the /EnterpriseVaultProxy/ directory was never created, instead it would want to access http://yourEVServer/EnterpriseVault/ directly, so what you would do is you would ask your ISA admin to publish the /EnterpriseVault/ virtual directory on the EV Server to make it public
So then when you open up OWA 2007 at http://webmail.yourcompany.com/ and you hit AE, it would go to http://webmail.yourcompany.com/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerui.asp and then ISA would forward all requests from the CAS Server to the EV Server.
a really good guide for this can be found here:
