Outlook 2007 - An unspecified error occurred. Access is denied. (EV 8.0 SP4)

Hi,

How is this possible, I'm the domain admin myself but I cannot open my own archived email dated last year in my Outlook 2007 ?

This is occuring in my Outlook 2007 SP3 with EV 8.0 SP4

Googling around found this article: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH37891 but it is not applicable as I cannot find the button to click due to the mismatch product version it applies to.

Here's the error details:

in the Outlook grey highlighted: The item was archived by Enterprise Vault on .....

There was an error loading this item - some functionality may not be available.

while this is the pop up error message box:
---------------------------
Enterprise Vault
---------------------------
An unspecified error occurred. Access is denied.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The indicator was the following performance monitor alert

Node1 (dual vCPU):
PRODFileServ01-VM Perfmon:\Server Work Queues(0)\Queue Length
PRODFileServ01-VM Perfmon:\Server Work Queues(1)\Queue Length

Node2 (dual vCPU):
PRODFileServ02-VM Perfmon:\Server Work Queues(0)\Queue Length
PRODFileServ02-VM Perfmon:\Server Work Queues(1)\Queue Length

if any of the queue goes beyond 100, the file server must be shutdown then fail over, followed by EV Server must be rebooted !

there is no official symantec fix other than doing this process manually.

Do you have this issue on multiple workstations ?
Are you using Vault Cache ?

Have you create a client trace ?

In Outlook do you have the Outlook toolbar?

Is it only you that is affecting?

By default in Exchange, many moons ago, Domain Admins had a deny when opening mailboxes.  So unless you have changed permissions, it could be related to that.

Is it definitely your own shortcut and not someone else's? Can you open up archive explorer and find and open the item? Domain admin shouldn't have anything to do with it unless you synchronize inherited permissions, the only permissions you should have on the archive is self and any delegates added through outlook

Yes I have created the Client Trace file, what keyword or section to look for ?

This problem affecting other people as well consistently.

Yes that is correct, I do have EV toolbar icon.

It affects myself when opening my own archived item, and also other people accessing their own old emails.

Hi Jesus,

Yes, I can view it from the browser (and using Archive Explorer as well).

but going to the actual items in the Outlook Folder, I can't see the full email items.

OK, the solution was simple, I had to reboot the EV server as part of the other issue that I posted in other thread.
