Outlook version on EV10 server for Exchange2003+2010

Hi,

What version of Outlook I need to install on the EV10.0 server if we have both Exchange 2003 & Exchange 2010 servers?

Can we use Outlook 2010(as we only want to have either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2010 in our environment)?? If so, is there any Microsoft hotfix needed?

Our situation will be abit complicated as both EV server & Exchange 2003 server are on the same domain, but the new Exchange 2010 server will be logically on the Holding domain on another forest with trust set up although the server will be physically located on the same sites.

You need Outlook 2007 SP2 with the hotfixes described on page 18 of the Compat Guide:

Outlook 2010 is currently not supported on the EV servers until further notice. SYMC are still testing Outlook 2010 due to MAPI connection issues.

Bear in mind the Exchange System Manager on the EV Server as well, you will want ESM 2003 for you Exchange 2003 mail archiving (for full inherited permissions) but that is not compatible with Outlook 2007 due to mapi conflicts either

You need to decide if you need the full permissions - see the compatibility guide for full details of how this affects things as you may decide you dont need the hassle of having ESM installed as well.

Generally having the mapi32.dll, mapisvc.inf and msmapi32.dll copied from the MS Office Shared area (program files\common files\)  to system32 and then running the fixmapi.exe sorts it but you must use the ones for outlook - loads of thread on this subject
