PST Migration Error

Wood_Grant_Siem

Hi,

We are currently running EV 8.0 and are moving all legacy PST's into our Vault.
I have encountered a problem with one user's PST's when I run the EV PST Migration Wizard it tells me that it cannot import the PST;s because "The data is invalid", now, I know that the PST's are working as the user was accessing them as recently as yesterday.

Any suggestions?

hi all,

thanks for the input, i have resolved this.
the folder where these PST's came from has SafeGuard LANCrypt (http://www.sophos.com/products/enterprise/encryption/safeguard-lan-crypt/) - the reason I could open them was I have rights to the SGLC group with my user account, but the Enterprise Vault account did not have, so, of course, every time I tried importing the PSt's they were encrypted.

The PST file that fails, what version of outlook is used?
What event ID message do you get in the symantec enterprise vault event viewer?

thanks for the links
In reference to http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/328750.htm - the PST's have been copied from a network share to a local drive on the EV server.

in reference to http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/287829.htm - the biggest PST is 1.38GB and Unicode

Did you try to use the PST util from MS to verify that the PST file dont have any errors?

I scanned one (1) PST and it was fine, so tried importing that single PST only and I get the same error

Hello Grant,

What is the exact event? I've seen some entries here that indicate the 6609 is a 'access denied' error.
How do you import them? copy to a share, import from there? Client-driven?

If you copy them over to a share, login on the ev-server as the vsa, and try to open the pst from there. check permissions on the location where the pst sits, and on the pst itself.

also, check this doc (if not done already) https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/migrating-pst-files-symantec-enterprise-vault-2007 it is for 2007, also applies for 8
