Hi guys,
is the someone who can clarify me if is it possible delete items archived with a retention category in which the option "prevent user deletion of item in this category" was checked.
I try to explain
Archiving was enabled with a retention category XXX (10 Years) with the option "prevent user deletion of item in this category" checked
Two Years later this retention category was modified in (For Ever) and the option "prevent user deletion of item in this category" was cleared
The question is: archived items with the old retention category settings can be deleted simply clearing that option? or the option "prevent user deletion of item in this category" is a tag on the item?
Thanks in advance
Andrew

Unless you are using a compliance storage platform, then the retention category is only appliciable for programmatic deletions, such as expiry. If the the option "prevent user deletion of item in this category" is uncheck then users can delete items from their archives. The items are only tagged with the retention category. The properties of the retention category can be changed and thus affect anything with that retention category.

basically, if the option is checked then no, if it's unchecked then yes and that's regardless if when the item was archived or what the retention age is set to. that being said, there are other places in EV where deletion can be allowed/denied too so it's not 100% the case that deletes would be allowed unless all the configuration options are set to allow it.
