Storage Service and Task Controller Service won't start up after installation and configuration

Hello,

I am installing EV2007 SP2 on a virtual machine under VMWare Workstation 6, using Windows 2003 Standard SP2 and SQL 2000 SP4. The server was added to a domain and logged in with a domain admin account.

The installation was successfull, and at the end of the configuration, both the Storage Service and the Task Controller Services didn't start with the following error:

1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

There are no references to this error on the server´s Event Viewer.

Does anybody knows what's happening ?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Further to that, did you run the deployment scanner?

I should have asked that first, but assumed you would have.  :)

Hey Marcel,

Was this a clean install or did you uninstall an old version?

I would do a reboot and then run through the set up again.

Hi Tony !

Thank you for the quick response.

This is a clean install for the VM and EV.

I've already tried runnin the setup again, but with no success.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Marcel

Interesting, grab a dtrace of the Storage service while you are trying to start it and see if that sheds some light on the situation.

Hi Marcel

did you install MSMQ and is it running?

also do a reboot and check the services in the OS. For example the Storage Service is depending on (see the properties):
- Admin Service
- Directory Service
- Event Log
- Message Queuing
