Upgrading from 7.5 to 8.0 - Backup question

Hi everyone,

We currently use a script to set registry keys to put EV in read-only mode, restart services.
In 8.0 you can use Powershell cmdlets to do this.

Should the registry keys be removed? Or are they obsoLete, and wiLL not be Used anymore.

Is it ok to set the archiving to run dailey, and rely on the cmdlets to set EV in readonly mode, or should I still allow a certain time window for making backups?

Anyone already made a procedure on how to backup ev8 in their environment?

thx.

GJ
Regards. Gertjan

Gerjan,

No the regkeys are not obsolete they still work.  You will get a warning in the event log telling you that you shoould look at using the new mechanism.  And for your customer in question I would highly recommend using the new way as you can set a VS into read-only mode. This will minimize the archive down-time for them.  I have some power-shell scripts somewhere but its basic stuff and the examples if i recall where pretty good.
