I am having a wierd issue at the moment. Virtual Vault disappeared from all my users outlook overnight. I checked Desktop Policy is ok, and didn't change.

What could it be?

Problem has been fixed now.

The Enterprise Vault Authentication for  'ASP.NET Impersonation' was disabled.

Thanks for all replies.

Ok first thing is first and is to right click exchange domain in the vac and go to display policy for users and put in a users name and make sure that they truly do have the correct desktop policy assigned to them If that's ok then the next thing is to check the ev client logs in their tempndirectory and see if you can see anything relevant to it not showing vault cache or virtual vault, for instance you may have set a GPO that sets outlook anywhere on and you may have ev configured to disable vault cache/virtual vault when using outlook anywhere/rpc over http You may have also had a GPO disable outlook cached mode for all users and the default is that cached mode is a requirement It could also be something where repairost.exe may work where it pulls down the hidden message from exchange Or it could be something sillier where the client has become disabled or even uninstalled

For all users to exprience this, I agree with JW, possibly a policy change, or a GPO causing an issue.

Grab a client trace from one affected machine, and see what Information that yields, at the top where the desktop settings are listed.

Thanks for all replies. I had been working on this problem with Symantec tech whole day. We think it's a permission issue.

Everytime when a client tried to 'Sync Virtual Vault', two event logs were logged:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event ID 8390 Web Application (WP)

The EnterpriseVault.DirectoryConnection object reported an error.
General access denied error
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://evevent.symantec.com/rosetta/showevent.asp

Event ID 8391 Directory Service

The EnterpriseVault.DirectoryService object reported an error.

General access denied error

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://evevent.symantec.com/rosetta/showevent.asp

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EV service account is the owner of EV databases and password never been changed. All users can access their archived emails, but lost ability to access virutal Vault somehowe.
