ev clients v9.02 prompted for login details

hi

i have seen some other post related to this issue but wanted to aks what the steps are to troubleshoot

since moving from windows 2003 sp2 ev 7.5 sp3 to a new w2k8r2 and evault 9.0.2 i have noticed the following issue for outlook cached mode clients (2007 sp2 with the new plugin 9.02 and offline vault cache enabled (no issues for non cached clients and vault cache disabled)

when connecting to the evault server it prompts for a login, when you enter the login details it communicates just fine

the evault server is listed in the intranet zones in IE with both the evserver-uk.domain.com and just evserver-uk. should i also perhaps list uk-evault which is the netbios name?

i also noticed that when i go to http://evserver-uk.domain.com/enterprisevault/usage.asp from my computer it now prompts me for a login as well and with the previous server it would automatically connect me.

i have seen some posts about disabling basic authentication but before making any changes (and perhaps breaking something else) i would appreciate it if someone could help me with some basic things to check

i found an article which describes the 6 most common issues which cause this particular issue but all of the settings were correct for my setup.

many thanks

Hi,

There is a piece of software that you can download for free called Fiddler which is essentially a HTTP proxy which will capture the details of your http request. Can you install that on a client and have it running when you make your request. Enter the details when you get the prompt and then save the conversation by going to File - Save - All Sessions and then post the .saz file that is created here. The application can be downloaded from here:-

http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/version.asp

Additionally what do you get if you just enter:-

http://evservername

Do you get the under contruction page as expected without any prompts?

If so then what occurs when you go to:-

http://evservername/enterprisevault

Do you get the EV Splash page as expected without any prompts?

If you rebuild the outlook cache for one of these users then does that stop the prompts?

Do you get prompted if you attempt to recall an item from one of the ev search applications instead of from the shortcut?

In IIS can you select the enterprisevault virtual directory and double click on the Authentication icon within the IIS section. What are the status of the authentication types listed?

What is listed in the users local intranet zone?

Regards...Paul.
