tricks to archive different domains on same exchange server

Hello all,

What are the things that come in your mind and tricks you'd point out when we want to archive different domains' mailboxes on the same Exchange server?

We tried to add another domain and right after that we couldn't add the exchange server because EV said that the server already exists.

Well when you add an exchange domain you are talking about active directory which is completely seperate from SMTP domains, you would just target the one exchange server in the AD domain that it exists in

Could you explain your configuration a little more please? It sounds like you are saying that you have your Exchange server in two domains which isn't possible, so my assumption would be that you have different smtp address domains for mailboxes on the same Exchange server? The domain refered to in the Admin Console is the AD Domain that the Exchange Server is located in, not the SMTP domain which is probably why it is saying that the server has already been added...

Yes Nick,

Single Exchange server hosting multiple smtp domains such as company1.com and company2.com

We want to archive all mailboxes in all smtp domains...

When we process items we target the mailbox, referring to the Distinguished Name (DN) of the mailbox rather than the SMTP address or alias, so you should be able to enable all mailboxes on that Exchange server regardless of the SMTP domain that their e-mail address is tied into. If you are not seeing mailboxes in the enable wizard then you may need to check your provisioning group settings as that will determine which mailboxes are available
