Enterprise Vault and Outlook 2007

We run Outlook 2007 and Enterprise vault on all our work PC's. Recently one of our users reported a problem with one of their vaulted messages which has a 8mb attachment. Our IT people have tried to recover the file and as yet have not had any success.

Since we are able to read our Outlook mail offline, is it possible that the email in question is still within the OST file on the user local harddrive and therefore recoverable from there.

Or

Now that the email has been sent to Vault, it is not possible to recover the message using any method.

Any advise would be good.

Thanks

If the archived item was in the mailbox/OST then it would only be the shortcut. The key area to concentrate on is why if it has been vaulted can it not be restored from the vault.

Do you leave shortcuts to the items? If so could the shortcut be in the users mailbox. What happens if they try to restore.

Also there are the 3 web applications if you do not have shortcuts:-

Archive Explorer

Browser Search

Integrated Search

What has or has not been tried?
