Vault Solutions LLC and JPG Consulting, Inc. have released a new product which enables customers to target Network Files System (NFSv3) volumes for archiving and eDiscovery. This new product was recently featured at Symantec Vision 2012 in Las Vegas, NV and was highlighted in serveral Symantec sessions. The list of platforms we can target keeps increasing but we have tested with different versions of NetApp filers, Solaris, OpenSuse, HP-UX and RedHat Linux.
A unique feature of the solution is the ability to replace the original content with shortcuts (symbolic links) for storage reduction to the content archived in Enterprise Vault. Clients can retrieve the content via our NFS server which seamlessly retrieves a readonly copy of the content from Enterprise Vault. If NetBackup is in use with Enterprise Vault, the solution can even retrieve the content from tape or other storage media without any intervention on the part of the user. No software needs to be installed on the client computers.
