I just happened to notice that some of my machines that are running server 2008 R2 auto pull up as windows vista. is it okay to manually change these to 2008 or is there a reason why this is happening?
If you mean in the client list in a policy then it is fine to change it - but i would wait until the day before your Full backups to do it in case it believes it is a new client and runs all incrementals as full backups.
