Hello

I have a enterprise master server + media server version 7.0.1 running on a Solaris 10 box with a dconnected SL48 tape library (2 drviers inside) attached that performs all of our local backups.  I would like 1 more SL 48 (with 2 tape drivers) to that solaris box in order to have more tape drivers for backup.

I just check my Netbackup licence with following features. but I'm not sure if I need another additional licence in order to add 1 more SL 48. Any advise? Million Thanks.

You'd have to check your certificates &/or your Symanetc representative to confirm exactly what you're covered for

e.g. the "count" of drives for your various Library Based Tape Drives as you need one license per physical drive:

17.10 NetBackup Library Based Tape Drive. If the Licensed Software You have licensed includes NetBackup Library Based Tape Drive, You may use such Licensed Software only to protect and manage the number of robotic-controlled Tape Drives licensed for such Licensed Software. There is no charge for stand-alone, non-robotic tape drives directly attached to a NetBackup Master/Media Server or NetBackup Server.
In addition, You may use NetBackup Library Based Tape Drive to support physical tape drives only. If you wish to acquire backup support for virtual tape drives or any device that simulates the behavior and functionality of a physical tape drive, You must obtain the appropriate number of NetBackup Virtual Tape Option licenses.

& not sure where Additional Drives/Robotics fits into the equation

Additional Drives/Robotics just means you have aquired at least 1 robot enabled tape drive license.

Since the drive count is not enforced by Netbackup it's up to the user to make sure the right amount of licenses are acquired.

Contact your NetBackup reseller (or any reseller if you wish - or Symantec directly)

Send your reseller an e-mail requesting that they obtain an Install Base Report (IBR) from Symantec

Once your reseller have this in writing (an email) from you they will be able to forward the request to Symantec and get a report on exactly what licenses you have ever bought and which are still in valid maintenance.

If you have your customer number(s) they will also help

Hope this helps
