NetBackup is just another run of the mill additional data protection option?

Ever notice that VERITAS Software was in all uppercase

I'm not sure I'd call it that ...
But, of course, it is just one of many data protection products ...

Personally, I like to stress that Veritas NetBackup is an Enterprise level backup and recovery solution. Looks good on a resume :)
