BAREMETAL RESTORE in VirtualBox

Hello,

I'll try to restore a BMR in a VM (virtual box)

does anyone here have done it before.

I'll do that just for testing

I think I'll heva some networking problems like:
 - the mac Address for the Baremetal server: (the VM has a different MAC than the fisical computer)

and another problems like:
- The computer name at the network - for testing I 'll like to see if the BMR is ok so I can't turn the original server off

I think that topic will be very usefull for everyone

I 'll try and put a howto here step by step.


Any help is very usefull because I have never done it before

I have criated a VM to see what driver should I get for restore


Network Driver will be

AMD PCNET FAMILY ETHERNET ADAPTER

the network is a NAT somethig like my Fisical computer as Gateway for the VM.

I'm sure that I'll need something bridging.

I'll try to get an IP from the baremetal server,





System:
Master            = SUN FIRE v240 = solaris
BAREMETAL_SERVER (TFTP) - Windows 2003 r2
Backup Host  = 15 GB backup of a Windows 2003 (just a WTS Server)
Restore Host = Notebook (OpenSuSE 11.1)
                             I'll try to restore the backup host over a Virtual Box machinne.





Any help or experience will be helpfull

Does Anyone knows about clonning a server with baremetal?

I would like to restore a server with the original ser UP.

Does anyone knows something about it?
