Backing up DFS folders on Windows 2012 R2 server using UNC names

Hi,

We make a job that backup some of DFS folders using UNC paths to this folders(\\fileserver\E$\...). I know that we can can use VSS for this, but the volume size is about 12 Tb, and backup takes long time + during backup replications stops.

But, even we use UNC path, till the backup process exist in system, DFS not replicating any data. The picture seems that we use DFS VSS and stop replication, because if i killl bpbkar32.exe process, the network activity and replication go back to 200-900 MB/s, instead of 200-300 Kb/s when process bpbkar32.exe running.

NetBackup 7.6.0.1, client installed on file server.

I appreciate any help with that

Thanks

Not sure why you are using UNC path names?

Herewith recommendations from Symantec/Veritas to backup DFS:
