Rules specific to NetBackup 6.0:
* A 6.0 master will work with 5.1 and 5.0MP1 (or later) media servers. NetBackup 5.0 Maintenance Pack 1 or later is the minimum required version for a 5.x Media server in a 6.0 environment. See TechNote 278153 for additional details.
* A Hot Catalog recovery of a NetBackup 5.x media server will require additional steps. See the 5.x Media Server Catalog Recovery section of the NetBackup 6.0 Troubleshooting Guide for additional information.
* It is not recommended to use a storage unit on a NetBackup 5.x media server for the Hot Catalog Backup.
* NetBackup 6.0 master and media servers will support backing up NetBackup 5.1 and 5.0 MP1 or later clients.
* NetBackup 6.0 will not support using NetBackup 4.5 media servers. Any NetBackup 4.5 Media servers must be upgraded to a minimum of NetBackup 5.0 MP1.
* NetBackup 6.0 master servers will support backup and restore operations for NetBackup 4.5 clients subject to the End of Support Life information below. The newer capabilities in NetBackup 5.x and 6.0, such as Advanced client backups and large file support, will not be functional for a <4.5 client>. This is a temporary support exception to allow the upgrade of master and media servers to NetBackup 6.0 without requiring the immediate upgrade of 4.5 clients.
* End of Support Life for 4.5 is July 1, 2006. After this date, 4.5 will be in partial support mode and bugs will not be addressed for 4.5 clients supported by 5.x or 6.0 media servers.
