Hi All,

I need to take backup of some directory and subdirectories (Server is UNIX).

Directory names are /U01 .... /U25..../Unn

In my policy backup selection tab should i put /U* so that it can take the backup of all the directories starting with /U*

Also when i can select Follow NFS and cross mount in the policy tab.

TIA

1)path/u*

2)Follow NFS:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO33438

The Follow NFS (Network File System) attribute specifies whether NetBackup is to back up or archive any NFS-mounted files. These files are named in the backup selection list or by the user, in the case of a user backup or archive. Uncheck the box to prevent the backup or archive of NFS-mounted files.

3)Cross Mount:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO33442

The Cross mount points attribute controls whether NetBackup crosses file system boundaries to back up or archive all files and directories in the selected path.

I would use /U[0-9]* so that only numbered Unumbered directories are backed up. If that is the goal.

NEVER select Follow NFS unles it is impossible to backup the data on the server where it actually resides.

Always use cross mountpoints unless the directive ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES is used for filepath.
