Hi All,

Master Server: AIX 5.3 (NBU6.5.6)

Media server: Linux2.6.18 (NBU6.5.6)

Client server: AIX 7.1 (NBU 6.5.4)

Following is the error message  I am getting:

Oct 24, 2012 8:26:37 PM - Error bpbrm (pid=16145) from client g<client>: ERR - Could not open file /usr/openv/netbackup/db/config/shm/<client>_1351123671 to get shared memory information. Errno = 2: No such file or directory
Oct 24, 2012 8:31:38 PM - Error bptm (pid=16161) Could not open FT Client pipe for client <client>: unimplemented error code 114 (114)
Oct 24, 2012 8:31:43 PM - end writing

Client server is a SAN client and nbftclnt has been restarted as per the solution I could get on web but still no luck. Please help.

Best Regards,

As a start, patch client to same level at FT media server.

Carefully go through documentation as if this is a new client: SAN Client and Fibre Transport Guide

Check SAN Client Troubleshooting Guide as well.

Important to check if PBX is installed on client.

Is this a new SAN client config that has never worked before?
Or worked fine previously and now failing?

What does rescan command on FT media server report?
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbftconfig -rescanclient <client name>

Please also see these TNs:

PS: Are you aware of the fact that NBU 6.x reached EOSL earlier this month?

Hi Marianne,

Thanks for the help!!

It's not a new SAN client config. Backups were working fine earlier. There was some sort of migration activity which was ntified to us and we found today that NBU client software was not installed on the server. We re-installed the software and ensured to restart nbftclnt.

Rescan is failing with following message:

Failed to rescan the SAN client

EXIT error: host is unreachable
EXIT status = 47

Since all other backusp are running fine, I believe it has to do something with the specific client. Please suggest.

Yes, its a pain for us now. We have no other go for now. Upgrading is still in discussion with management.
