Hello,
master solaris10 7.5.0.7
client win2008 7.1.0.4
we created user pts with admin rights on windows, because only for this user is visible network drive H
if i will use all_local_drives in policy with NFS, drive H is not backed up
if i will use H:\, then drive is backed up
what should be done to make backup via all_local_drives?

why policy 1 is not working?
Because H is not a LOCAL drive.
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES will only backup local drives. SAN or DAS attached. not NAS.
Not network drives.
NBU runs 'bpmount' command at beginning of backup to identify 'local' drives.
I am surprised that policy 2 is working.
Mapped/network mounts only exist in user context.
The drive is mapped as part of a user login script.
When NBU backup runs, it does not physically login at OS level.
That is why Symantec advise us to take backup of Windows network drive as UNC path.

Please help us to understand where H-drive physically resides?
If is local (or SAN) attached on a file server, then ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES with fileserver specified in Clients will work.
If H:\ is a NAS attached drive on the fileserver, you need to select 'Backup network drives' in MS-Windows policy and specify the network drive as UNC share in Backup Selection (e.g. \\NAS-IP\pst-share). Fileserver name will be in Clients tab.

Hello Marianne,
H drive is NAS share
Policy 1
with checkbox - Backup network drives
selection all_local_drives
Policy 2
with checkbox - Backup network drives
selection H:\
only user pts can access to the drive H:\
so netbackup service under pts user in policy 1 doesn't detect of drive H
backup of drive H was successful by policy 2
user pts has administrative rights
why policy 1 is not working?

Hello Marianne,
we have standardization of policy
so all network drives we back up via policy with all_loca_drives with checkbox network drives under local system user
i created policy 3
backup selection /
and all drives were backed up
is the system state consistant for restore by this way?

For Windows clients, policy type must be MS-Windows with ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES in Backup Selection.
This will include System State as per description of ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES in NBU Admin Guide I.
This is a different query and not related to network drive on file server.
