Hello
I use the Netbackup 7.5 to manage the backups to DB and FS.There are netbackup clients running for the Windows Sytems and BD ( MsSQL clients).
However the backups are done with the systems Online(DB and FS), some times on the FS jobs that run the policies assigned, there are files that could not be backuped up and that jobs ends with status 1, and not 0.
My question is the following, does the Symantec Netbackup application makes online backups or not ?
If a file is in use in a MSWindows FS it will not be backuped up and if not, how can it be restored and the whole restore be consistent ?
The same for the BDs.
If the DB is online with accesses taking place, is the backup online consistent or not (for example a MsSQL DB ) ?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards

NetBackup does do online backups using VSS for file systems and the appropriate agents for databases (SQL in your case)
However, as SQL Databases are always open they will not back up and so should be excluded from yoru file system backups
Adding such exclusions will not affeect you SQL database backups
Same applies for exchange etc.
Hope this helps
