The BMR auto-conversion of Windows clients is an enhancement added in NBU 7.6 releases. It is not part of any previous releases. It is only for Windows clients.
You can still do a P2V of a Windows and Linux clients using this technical article.
Performing Physical to Virtual (manual P2V) restores using BMR
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH211500
This makes use of BMR's Dissimilar System Restore (DSR) capabilities which are present in all currently supported versions of NBU/BMR. It also allows you the capability to make changes to the client setup which the auto-convert process does not allow.

The Direct virtual machine creation from backup with BMR is a feature only available in Netbackup 7.6 and newer.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there a way we can automate this using 7.5 NBU?
Also since nbrestorevm is not availaible in 7.5,can you juggle ur mind with some possibility.

Why not simply upgrade to 7.6?
If your annual maintenance is up to date, the upgrade is for free.
If you really want to stick with 7.5, you should be able to use 'normal' BMR, but with no option to automate the process. You will have to edit BMR client config before using BMR restore.

Sorry Vivek, you are out of luck if there is no command line options for restore VMware hosts in 7.5
The good news is, there will be a API for Netbackup automation in a forthcoming version of Netbackup.
