Can we import backup images from tapes used for Backup Exec in Netbackup

Hi,

I am a newbee to the Backup and Recovery environment and in our environment both Netbackup and Backup Exec is being used.  I would like to know if images in tape used for Backup Exec can be imported in Netbackup.  So far, my attempts to import the images were not successful.  Please help me to know if it is possible to import the images or not.

With backup exec tapes, if the images span multiple media you HAVE to 'phase 1 ' import the  first tape in the backup set first.

The remaining tapes can be imported in any order.

Adding to Mariannes excellent post - there are limitations of what you can do with images imported from BackupExec Media, for example, (from memory) pretty sure you can't duplicate them ..

What is the version of NetBackup?

What is the version of Backup Exec which originally wrote the images?

What kind of BE images are they?

The answers to these questions along with the previously referenced TechNote TECH125836 will give you your "yes" or "no" answer - and if turns out to be "yes," we can move to troubleshooting why it isn't working for you.  :)

Thanks for your response.  We had Netbackup 6.5 and Backup Exec 12.5 in our environment.  We had an expert who had worked and got the data imported.
