Client refuses connection

Hi All,

We have a couple of W2K3 clients which will refuse connection on port xyz. Other W2K3 clients (which were installed the same way) will accept the connections, e.g. when you browse for which disks/directories to include/exclude.

All the clients and the server run 5.1MP3 on W2K3 server. 2 of the refusing and both accepting clients have W2K3 SP1 and 1 refusing has only W2K3.

Any ideas to what is going wrong?

Thanx,

Richard.

How/where are you attempting to connect?
Check the servers listing under properties to see if the server you are trying to connect from is included as a valid server. Are all of the clients on the same subnet? Is there a firewall issue?Message was edited by:

I'm trying to open the client from the Admin Console to select which disks/folders/files to backup.

Firewall is not in use and the clients are on the same subnet as the server.

Also bpclntcmd -pn / -sv is working, also ping and nslookup work fine.

Is the machine that Admin Console is being run on listed as a valid server in the properties window for the client that is refusing connection?

I pumped up the debug level for the client and then noticed gethostbyname was giving a failure.

After a quick investigation it appeared that the Master/Media server was missing form the forward DNS.

Problem solved. Thanks for the response.
