Check OS for msgs about your drives...how are they attached? If fibre, anything from the switch side of things, rarely silent if theres problems.
Netb sits on top of the OS so inevitably your drives need to be fully functioning.
Shut down netb and test drives from OS.
Might be something as simple as needing a clean and no cleaning/not set up for autoclean.

Logs for troubleshooting frozen media
The following logs are useful when troubleshooting frozen media:
UNIX and Linux
■ The bptm log from the media servers that froze the media:
/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bptm
■ The Admin messages or syslog from the operating system.
Windows
■ The bptm log from the media servers that froze the media:
install_dir\VERITAS\NetBackup\logs\bptm
■ The Windows Event Viewer System Log
■ The Windows Event Viewer Application Log
Set the verbosity of the bptm process log to 5 to troubleshoot any media and
drive-related issues. This log does not use excessive drive space or resources even
at an elevated verbosity. When media is frozen, the bptm logs may contain more
detailed information that the Activity Monitor or Problems Report. Set the
verbosity for bptm on individual media servers by changing their logging levels
under Host Properties on the NetBackup Administration Console.

OS System logs are only useful if you have VERBOSE entry in vm.conf on all media servers.
You can also check Media Logs report: 'bperror -media -hoursago <hours>'
Favour, please: ALWAYS mention the NBU version as well as OS version on all relevant NBU servers and clients.
ANOTHER FAVOUR: please be so kind and provide feedback to all your unresolved posts............

I have a lot of down paths too.
=> Are the drives shared? If so are the paths down to the other media servers? Did you check from the hardware end if everything is okay.
