The Indexing Server must be Windows 2008 R2 x64 but i cannot see an issue with using that with a Linux Master Server (the Media Server is irrelevant here)
You also need an OpsCenter Server up and running to use it so ensure you have one of those installed and configured with your Master Server added to its configuration.
The Indexing server itself must be a Media Server - so add it to the Master Servers Host Properties - Servers section under Additional Servers and Media Servers section and then re-start NetBackup on the Master to register this.
Next, again under Host Properties - Indexing Servers just right click and Add your indexing server in then open it up and add a schedule
But to answer you question there should be no problem with your Master being Linux
Take a look on your Master server under /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/ ... you should find nbindexutil
If so that does show that it can handle controlling an indexing server as that is the command used for querying your indexing servers jobs
Hope this helps

Thank You for your response. Mark_solutions mentioned there is no issue with adding a Win 2008 Index server to a Unix NetBackup environment (specifically adding it to the Master Server running on Suse Linux.
I wanted to make sure this is the case.
As always all help is appreciated,
Regards,
DM
