Suggest you go through the steps here:

https://www.veritas.com/community/forums/general-connectivity-troubleshooting-status-23242558-often-6

After you have checked that the netbackup client services is running

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Start with the bpcd log file on the client .. create the log directory in order to get it logging ... then try and connect to its host properties from the master and see what it logs .. this usually gives a good clue.

If it doent log then no conenction is getting through .. try a telnet to the client on port 1556.

Why would you install older version of NBU software on new client? (Although this is not the reason for status 58, always good to install latest/same version as servers.) Firstly confirm that Windows firewall is disabled on the client, then perform bptestbpcd test to test port connectivity and forward and reverse name lookup from master and media server (be sure to create bpcd log folder on the client before you perform tests). You can also confirm forward and reverse name lookup between servers and client using bpclntcmd command with -hn and -ip options. Test on client with master and media server name and ip's and on servers with client's details.

Can you also check if you have multiple NIC cards and is that causing issue...?

what is the status when you are connecting the client with the ipadress.. ?

Hi All,

Thank you so much for the valuable advise. Media server is not able to communicate with client. Client to Master and Master to Client is fine, but Media to Client connection returns code 25.Please find the output below.

Have you created bpcd log folder on the client before bptestbpcd on the media server? If not, please do so and run bptestbpcd on media server again. Check bpcd log on the client for errors. If nothing is logged in bpcd, then there is a firewall problem. Ensure port 1556 is open in both directions between media server and client.
