Netbackup 7.6.0.4
Windows 2008r2 master and media servers
Datadomain 5.4.4.1
Hello.
I'm running into an odd issue where I am trying to restore data that I can see in the backups, and looks healthy. The files are mainly tiff, pdf, etc....image files from scanned receipts. The data is backed up from a share on a Netapp. The backup policy is an ms-windows type, and simply uses one of my media servers as the policy client, and the backup selection is the path to the file share. When I perform a restore of the data, the job finishes quickly, with a "partially successful" message. I cen see the files in the target restore location, but the file size is 0. Ive been researching the error messages "WIN32 50: The request is not supported", and "err=WIN32 1338: The security descriptor structure is invalid", but not coming up with a lot yet. Anyone experienced this before?

I only noticed the following now:
This data backs up from our as400's storage to DataDomain.
How is this data getting backed up?
NBU does not have an agent for AS400, so the file format will be unknown and unsupported.
See this TN:
Does NetBackup support AS/400 systems as a client?

it looks like you are doing the restore to share path..
please restore the file to local disk of the client to see if the issue is still persist
does the account running the Netbackup have enough privilages on the share?
make sure the user accout that is used to run the netbackup services in restore client have enough privilages on the share
by default netbackup use buil-in local accout., if that is the user accout its is being used you need to update the user accout with the one haivng the enough privilages on the share.
you can see the use account that is being used by netbackup services by going to
services.msc--> netbackup client services.--> rigth click properties.

A workaround can be to restore the files locally on the media server and then copy them on to the netapp share.

My apologies. This data backs up from our as400's storage to DataDomain. It is not coming from Netapp. I misspoke.
However, I did also try writing to a local share. The files restored, but again, with 0KB. Looking at the services, it is running under Local System account. But, if it is a permissions issue, I wonder why it is successful in restoring any part of the file at all?

Please change NBU Client Service logon account to a domain account with full access to destination path.
Create tar log folder on the client and increase logging level to 5 for troubleshooting.
