Flashbackup backup size

I am testing the netbackup 7.0 flashbackup for my file server, below is the my testing case

Master Server

     OS: Windows 2008 R2

     Netbackup enterprise 7.0

Client Server

     OS: Windows 2003 R2

     Netbackup client 7.0

     D drive: 1.8 TB ( Used 490GB)

Policy

      Type: Flashbackup-windows

      Snapshot option: Auto

      Selection: \\.\D:

The policy can be completed, but my question is that i found it has backed up 1.8TB instead of 490GB, is flashbackup do not recognize the used size? or it can only backup the full size of the partition

Correct. That is how flasbackup works. It is a block-level backup of the entire raw device.

Flashbackup is not ideal for near-empty volumes.
