Yeah, I thought that directory list looked odd.

After removing the server installation, you want the client software.

Per the NB_7.5files.txt

 NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.1of3 UNIX Clients  [split]
        [MD5:8dfd798f7ae84e7130a9c1dc8c9aa97f]

 NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.2of3 UNIX Clients   [split]
        [MD5:bbfeca1c4b297fd92d7d71f411fe283f ]

 NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.3of3 UNIX Clients   [split]
        [MD5:dbcde68d73437af47ae5b3f1fe2840b9 ]

Before you uncompress any file, you must first join the split packages, that
you can identify as ".1of2" and ".2of2". Perform either of the following
procedures to join the respective .tar.gz files or the .zip files together on
UNIX, Windows, or LiveUpdate clients.

To join NetBackup 7.5 UNIX clients
----------------------------------

1. Download all similarly prefixed image files, for example, "_tar-gz.1of2" and
   "_tar-gz.2of2".

2. Run the appropriate command to join the .tar.gz files together:

   - On UNIX systems:
     cat "NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.1of3" "NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.2of3"  "NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.3of3" > "NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS.tar.gz"

   - On Windows systems:
     copy /b "NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.1of3"+"NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.2of3"+"NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS_tar-gz.3of3" "NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS.tar.gz"

3. Use an md5sum command to ensure that your number matches the below provided
   value.

     md5sum  NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS.tar.gz =  24844689e219d3c467e884fb5737101b

Also, the "Size" value is: XX GB (XX bytes)

NOTE: You can download the MD5sum utilities from many sites, choose one that
   you trust.

4. After you have successfully joined the files, you are ready to uncompress the
   packages.

I was actually referring to the Readme file on FileConnect with joining instructions.

Ftp the 3 files to the Solaris server in binary mode, join as per the Readme, then unzip and extract using gtar:

gzcat NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS.tar.gz | /usr/sfw/bin/gtar xvf -

See:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH154080

Now run the install script.

Hi

I don't have that archive here...

root@client # cd /usr/openv/netbackup
root@client # ls
baremetal        db               sec              vfm_master.conf
bin              help             vault
client           logs             version

maybe the client installation failed?

Looks like you are on the Master?    (though should have bp.conf there too)

Walter_AR

No, I'm doing these tests in the Client.

The Master server is installed in Windows Server 2008 STD R2

Thanks.

Which software download did you use to install the client? There should not be a db folder. But not all Server folders are there. Maybe best to remove this software, double-check that you have Unix Client software download and start again. Carefully check installation output, provide Master name when prompted (which will create bp.conf) and that only Client services are running at the end: vnetd, bpcd and pbx.

I downloaded the software from the Symantec web.

maybe I installed the master or media client and I don't installed the client...

Which file did you download? The ones with Solaris in the filename are for Solaris servers. Master/media servers.

You need the Unix Client files.

For NBU 7.5 there are 3 files that you need to download and join.

You will find a Readme file on FileConnect with explanation and instructions. You will also find a list in NBU Installation Guide.

Check with pkginfo for SYMC packages. If you see SYMCnetbp, you have installed server software. Remove server software and download Client software.

Walter_AR

OK, now, how uninstall this?? Only delete the folder openv?

Thanks

No, you need to check with pkginfo for NBU installation, then use pkgrm to remove the software.

pkginfo |grep SYMC

Remove any server-relate package that is listed in NBU Installation Guide - see point 14 onwards on p.108.

SYMCnetbp should be sufficient. If it lists other dependencies, remove that too.

Hi.
I downloaded the three packs
I have a folder that say: NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS
Inside there are two folders, Doc and NBClients, too three archives, Install, LICENCE and VSM_README.
Do I excecute the install archive in this folder? or I most excecute some installator in: Veritas NetBackup 7.5.0.4\Clientes\NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS\NBClients\anb\Clients\usr\openv\netbackup\client\Solaris\Solaris10...

Thanks

Have you actually read the Readme on FileConnect? And why the Windows path when it's a Solaris machine? You also need to use gtar to extract the concatenated file. Will post TN when I get a chance.

Walter_AR

I downloaded that packs in my PC, then I'm going to copy this folder to the Solaris Server.

Attach the VSM_README, but, only has migration steps of 7.0 to 7.5.

Tnanks

Guys, a last question.

Now I can install the client. Can I delete the folder  NetBackup_7.5_CLIENTS?? because I haven´t much free space in  /usr

Thanks

Yes absolutely. Most of us copy it to /tmp and install from there. The download file(s) and extracted files can be deleted or will be deleted from /tmp at next reboot.

Excellent, Thanks
