Many thanks.

I'd double check once imported.

Never found any specific documentation, but from a test I did about a year ago it appeared that a 2 week retention was applied to our imported BE images/media:

There is no way you can convert a BE media server to NBU media server.

You will have to uninstall BE and install NBU from scratch.

However you can use BE tapes in NBU, first inventory all tapes in NBU and then run a catalog job.

You can import BE tapes into NBU as per the TN's that you have found in NBU2010's post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/data-importing-backup-exec-netbackup-7503

To do physical inventory of tapes in NBU: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH125069

Statement of Support for Backup Exec Tape Reader (CL):    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH125836

To answer your question in above thread:
What happen if my existing BackupExec10 already run for some time with multiple client. Any way i can transfer the entire schedule/policy from existing BackupExec10 to my new NetBackup7 and continue my backup operation at this new NetBackup7 server.
This is not possible. You cannot transfer/import BE policies and schedules to NBU. You need to create new policies from scratch.
BE software need to be uninstalled on clients and NBU client software installed.

Unfortunately there is no 'conversion'. You need to learn a brand new product that differs greatly from BE...

Hi Marianne,

Very thanks for your info, my last question is, after i import the media into NBU volume database, will the original media retention remain or i need to re-create/extend?

Thanks you very much and your advice is very much appreciate.
