I am sick and tired by the netbackup rman speed.First i though it was due to the backup on the network....but later on i tried on the backup on the disk.....But again I am unable to get speed more than 50MB/sec. The trace and the logs shows that rman has to wait in reading the data from the database. Any idea how can i speed up this slow respone from the db.

Is it maxing your processor(s) out or have it they got plenty to spare? Plenty of memory?

Atif,

Usually rman backups are slow, How about server resources and tape library?
If you have enough resources then you need to work with DBA and see if he can help.

Are you doing rman backups at the same time as file system backups are running?

Unlike backup, a NetBackup Oracle extension restore utilizes a slower public network instead of a backup network specified by REQUIRED_INTERFACE.

Atif,

9 times out of 10 it is NOT netbackup that is slow.

Oracle's RMAN is a very slow an clunky way to backup Oracle.

Oracle will be even slower ot tape if it's on a Sh*ty slow box or network.

Look at your systems.

How is it configured?

All NIC's and HBA's configured correctly, Kernel set correctly, do you have memory sufficiant enough to run your master?
