Installing Release NB_7.1.0.3

The NB_7.1 release notes for a Solaris 9 client say that vxvm and vxfs need to be at 5.1 SP1 or more.  Would I be able to upgrade the Netbackup  server to NB_7.1 but leave the client at NB_6.5.5 to get around the Veritas file system and volume manager requirement?

Thanks  Carl Mathews

This Solaris 9 system isn't your server, right?  If so, then yes, you can upgrade your Master/Media servers to 7.x and keep clients at 6.x.

See this KB for more information about version compatibility: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH29677

Please bear in mind that NBU 6.x will reach EOSL in October this year...

Please motivate system owner to upgrade his server - OS, SF and then NBU.
Seems he will soon find this system without any support...
