Can anyone please tell me where can i download the MP6 for Veritas Netbackup Version 5 for windows 2000 server?

But i unable to install this in the local computer...the option was dissabled , it is asking for or searching remote clients...?In my local computer i installed Veritas server software.

Yes , once i applied the lisence key ..Then only it allows me to install (Master server software) ....then now i can able to configure policies for full ,incr bkups. Now i want to install Maintance pack for that 5.0Version.Message was edited by:

I also encoutered such issue and resolved but the solution was so strange :)
You must have downloaded the wrong version of MP5, may be 5.1 MP5 or any other MP.

Please double check once again it is the ONLY possible issue to not to show local option but allows to select remote clients.

Early I downloaded the correct version of MP6 for Netbackup version 5.0,while i install the patch... the option "install in local computer" is dissabled mode ..Message was edited by:

Exact Error Message
"Install to this computer only" option is disabled

Details:
If this option is greyed out, check this registry key:

"VERSION"="x.x"

Make sure the Veritas NetBackup version listed in this registry key matches with the base line NetBackup version of the patch you are installing. E.g., if you are installing 5.1 Maintenance Pack 3 (MP3), the value of this registry key should be:

"VERSION"="5.1"

for the "Install to this computer only" option to be enabled.

This ensures that the patch being installed is for the correct base line NetBackup version.


Note: Some customers have altered the VERSION registry value to a different version number than their currently installed version of NetBackup. E.g., the current installed NetBackup version is 5.1, but the registry value has been changed to:

"VERSION"="5.0"

If this has occurred for any reason where the VERSION registry entry does not match the actual version of NetBackup that is installed, then the VERSION registry key must be altered to match the correct installed version of NetBackup before the "Install to this computer only" option will be enabled. E.g., if the current installed NetBackup version is 5.1, but the registry value is:

"VERSION"="5.0"

it needs to be changed back to:

"VERSION"="5.1"

A reboot is not required after the change to this registry key. However, stopping and restarting the NetBackup services is recommended once the registry is modified.

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor can have disastrous results on a server operating system. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is highly recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.


Note: In addition, ensure the install-path\NetBackup\version.txt file is reporting the correct base line version for the patch.

I checked the version in this registry location as per your suggestion

"VERSION

It was "VERSION" = "5.0GA"

I think it is perfect ...I guess that ...I have installed Netbackup Enterprise Server in my machine and the patch i am trying to install is not the correct patch for that version ..i downloaded the Maintanane pack which labled as(NB_50_6S01_M_282494.winnt.intel) from the location give by deepak........, Which Maintanance pack and in which location can i found the patch for the above version software?

Hi,

You have downloaded security pack and not the maintenance pack. Please try
NB_50_6_M.winnt.intel.exe this is actual MP6.

I have been telling you that there could be a mismatch of a patch, I tried to install 5.1 MP4 on 5.0 and encountered the same issue hence i suggested to double check the patch which you have downloaded.
